Industrial Modems

Modems and routers for IP-based networks

The new product portfolio of SCALANCE M provides the right network component for every application. SCALANCE M can be used universally in telecontrol, teleservice, and any other application for industrial remote communication. Connection to remote networks - public or private communication networks - is achieved via industrial routers SCALANCE M.

Details - wireless

Wireless connection to remote networks

Use of globally available, public mobile telephone networks is a cheaper solution than building a corporate wireless network (e.g. Industrial Wireless LAN). It is also appropriate if no other transmission medium (e.g. dedicated line/telephone network) is available. It requires sufficiently strong signal reception at the location where it is used.

Both stationary stations and mobile stations, e.g. railway and road vehicles as well as coastal vessels and inland navigation vessels, can be connected to a central operator control and monitoring system using the following modules. The high data rates permit transmission of mass data or images in real time.

Advantages

Wide application area thanks to large bandwidth, high performance and speed

High security standards by means of integrated security functions like firewall (stateful inspection) and VPN (IP-Sec) to implement the Industrial Security concept

To achieve a high level of process availability, transmission paths can be redundantly structured.

Modern mobile telephone networks and the internet allow machines and plants to be affordably permanently connected to the control center.

Economical volume tariffs result in low transmission costs

Simplicity of connecting local area networks by means of IP communication via WAN
