Reducing waste energy in key automation applications.
The challenge
Earlier in the year, Advanced Actuators were tasked with building an essential test rig that could pave the way for future nationwide product design. The prototyping process had moved along accordingly with the plan coming together, although Advanced Actuators had recognised a high degree of wasted energy inherently in their system.
To resolve the issue, Advanced Actuators reached out to their automation and process instrumentation supplier Parmley Graham to configure a less wasteful system.
Identifying the solution
Parmley Graham had previously been in touch with Advanced Actuators to provide Siemens PLC equipment and support their transition to Siemens equipment across a number of their product lines. For this challenge, Parmley Graham were able to provide necessary Siemens motor control products and regen panels, alongside further PLC equipment and process instruments with direct support from Siemens.
Advanced Actuators state that the course of this project has developed the relationship between Advanced Actuators, Parmley Graham and Siemens, which has led to the progression of other products through technology introduced at various meetings.
The efforts of Advanced Actuators were recognised by local government as Keighley MP Robbie Moore visited the site to view the assembly that Advanced Actuators had built, and commend them on their efforts. Advanced Actuators are now looking to the future with other upcoming projects that they can overhaul and develop with energy efficiency and product quality in mind.
The results
With the new automation components in place, Advanced Actuators were able to significantly cut down their energy wastage and produce a much more efficient test rig. with the prototype complete, Keighley local MP Robbie Moore visited the Advanced Actuators site and congratulated them on their innovative system, suggesting a bright future for the company as it continues to grow.
